Gill Named Conference Player of the Week

After a commanding victory at Erie Community College, The Northeast Football Conference selected ASA's Jakai Gill as a conference player of the week.

"Gill, a 5-foot-9, 150-pound sophomore wide receiver from Hartford, Connecticut, caught 10 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in the Avengers' 50-6 nonconference win over Erie. The receiving yards are the most in a game this season while the reception total is second." – NEFC

Along with Gill's nomination, defensive lineman Najee Stevens-McKenzie also received an honorable mention. Stevens-McKenzie recorded multiple sacks for the second time this season. Najee also tied a career-high last Saturday with six tackles.

ASA now awaits the NJCAA weekly Division I rankings to be released on Tuesday afternoon.  ASA has won three consecutive games, including a road win versus #10 ranked Lackawanna Falcons two weeks ago. Following that top 10 victory, ASA didn't receive a top 20 ranking, however they did receive votes.

ASA is seeking their first ranking since week seven of the 2015 season, where they were ranked #17th in the nation.
