Labanowitz Named NEFC Conference POTW For Second Consecutive Week

BROOKLYN, NY - The Northeast Football Conference has selected ASA's Stone Labanowitz and Hozey Haji Badri as the conference's players of the week (The Northeast Football Conference).

Labanowitz, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound freshman quarterback from Stuart, Florida, completed 23 of 29 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns in the Avengers' 21-14 win over No. 10 Lackawanna. (RECAP) The NJCAA's leader in passing efficiency at 183.8, Labanowitz receives the honor for the second-straight week. 

Haji Badri, a 6-3, 270-pound freshman defensive end from Chantilly, Virginia, recorded six tackles (five solo) in ASA's win. He was credited with three quarterback sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.

The honorees will now be considered for NJCAA national players of the week.

ASA will head on the road this weekend to play the Erie Community College Kats who are currently 1-3. Erie is led by quarterback Tyler Zelinski who has thrown for over 700 yards in four games played.  The Kats seek their first home victory of the season after starting 0-2 at home.

Offensive leader Stone Labanowitz looks to continue his streak of five consecutive games with multiple passing touchdowns. Al'Tariq Jones leads the Avengers this season with 260 rushing yards.  Three ASA defenders (Jaicorious Johnson, Demetrius Powell & Malachi Timberlake) have all recorded over 30 tackles on the season.


  • Erie CC is currently ranked 13th in the country with 251 passing yards-per-game.
  • Erie is ranked 10th in the country at converting within the red zone, scoring touchdowns 67-percent of the time when entering the red zone.
  • Erie has thrown for over 300 yards in their past three games.
  • The Erie Kats have allowed 41.5 points-per-game thus far on the season.
