Brooklyn, NY – In week 5 of the ASA Brooklyn Avengers 2019 baseball season, the Avengers played 4 games. They first travelled to Mercer County Community College on Tuesday April 9th then went on to play County College of Morris on April 11th. They finished the week with a doubleheader against Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday April 13th.
On April 11th, the Avengers played against County College of Morris. The Avengers opened the first inning with 3 runs. They scored another run on the 3rd inning and then entered a scoring drought while CCM took advantage and scored 2 runs after the 7th inning. In the 8th inning, the Avengers once again took control and scored a run before scoring 3 more in the 9th. The game ended in a win for the Avengers 8-2. Seven Avengers scored a run, while Jose Gil contributed 2.
On Saturday, the Avengers played a double-header against Hudson Valley Community College. In the first game, the Avengers scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning from Rohandry Javier and Sammy Cuevas. Both teams remained scoreless until the 7th inning where Hudson Valley tied the game with 2 runs of their own. In the 8th inning, Hudson Valley scored the decisive run to end the game 3-2 in favor of Hudson Valley. In the second game, the Avengers again opened with 2 runs, this time in the second inning. However, Hudson Valley was able to bounce back and by the end of the 3rd inning, Hudson Valley went up 4-3. Hudson Valley scored another 2 runs in the 5th but the Avengers went scoreless until the 7th where they scored 2 runs of their own. The game ended in the 7th inning with the Avengers losing 5-6.
